About MGF

MGF (Mechano Growth Factor) is a splice variant of IGF-1 (IGF-1Ec) characterised by a unique 24-amino acid E domain extension. The MGF E domain peptide is the primary research form, with a molecular formula of C121H200N42O39 and a molecular weight of 2867.1 g/mol.

MGF is used in in vitro preclinical research examining splice variant-specific IGF-1 signalling and satellite cell activation. Studies have investigated the MGF E domain’s interactions with nuclear localisation sequences and its effects on myoblast proliferation in cell culture models, independent of IGF-1R-mediated pathways. It is an active area of research in muscle cell biology.
